ABOUT

Hi, I’m Mel. Thanks for taking the time to find out more about me and how I can help you improve your health & well-being.

I support my yoga students and coaching clients by using a Holistic Approach which considers the WHOLE PERSON and all the different elements that make up who we are. This includes our mind, body, spirit (purpose) and emotions. Using Yoga Philosophy, Coaching, Psychology, Neuroscience & Nutrition enables me to help you gain the tools to lead a happier, healthier life.

Yoga

I started practising yoga as a teenager to help relieve my problematic lower back. It wasn’t until I attended a class in Bali in my late 20’s that I really started to understand that yoga was far beyond a physical practice. I realised how good it made me feel in both mind and body. The ability to move freely, breathe deeply and truly relax has been invaluable to my physical and mental well-being and I love seeing these benefits in those who I teach.

As a yoga teacher my intention is to help people feel better, in both body and mind. Twisting yourself into knots isn’t the priority here, unless that’s what makes you feel good!! If you can breathe, you can do yoga.

I completed my first 200 Hour Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India in 2013 and shortly after began teaching my own private classes in Bearwood.

In 2014 I undertook my second 200 hour training with Friends of Yoga (FRYOG) in Birmingham over the course of 2 years.  Since then I have gone on to train in numerous areas of yoga including Yin Yoga which I find very beneficial to my own practice, especially as I love to cycle and my hamstrings need a longer and deeper stretch! Find out about the benefits of Yin Yoga and when I am running seasonal workshops here.

I am currently studying for an Advanced Yoga Teacher qualification with Orange Yoga Studio in my home town of Cheltenham.

I hope to see you on your mat soon!

Holistic Lifestyle & Nutrition coaching

I have worked in the health and wellbeing field since 2007, when I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc Hons in Food Marketing Management. I have since worked for a number of nutritional behaviour change programmes in schools and across the community.

In December 2021 I qualified as an Advanced Holistic Lifestyle & Nutrition Coach with the MindBodyFood Institute.

I now freelance for the NHS as a Diabetes Prevention Coach running group sessions in the community as well as running nutrition, cookery and yoga workshops privately.

I also support clients on a 1/1 basis to gain the clarity they need to make changes to their health, wellbeing and eating behaviour’s without the need for restrictive or faddy diets.

For more information, or to book a session, please see here.

I hope to connect with you soon,

Mel

Discovering Mel was one of the best things I have done for my health and well being. She has a relaxed friendly style whilst still managing to challenge and ensure development. Sessions are always enjoyable, if tough sometimes, and the day always seems to go better if I have started with yoga. Since commencing the sessions, my overall fitness has definitely improved, as has my motivation. If for whatever reason , I have to miss a session, I really notice it. I always look forward to my session with Mel and know that even though it might be hard work I will feel so much better afterwards.
